Senior Independent Consultant
Procotex Corporation - Apply Carbon
Hans Miltner holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Free University of Brussels.
He has almost 20 years of experience in the plastics sector, where he has held several positions in technical, commercial as well as management roles.
He started his career in academia, conducting fundamental as well as applied research in the area of functional polymer nanocomposites, which he transferred to first commercial applications in the medical market. He then moved to industry and joined the Belgium-based chemicals and plastics giant SOLVAY in its Corporate R&D division, where he leveraged his academic experience in polymer nanotechnologies to drive development activities in functional barrier coatings, specialty polymer compounds and battery components. Following the acquisition of SOLVAY’s French industry peer RHODIA, he became the Group’s Program Manager for Thermoplastic Composites. In this role he coordinated the product and technology development activities for the Group, and incubated new business opportunities in those industries where lightweighting and metal-to-plastic conversion are of strategic importance, including automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics. Subsequent to the acquisition of CYTEC, he became responsible for product management and had global business development responsibility for the automotive and oil & gas markets.
Hans Miltner today acts as an independent senior consultant to players in the global plastics and composites industry. A strong partner network allows the company to cover a wide range of expertise domains serving the broader plastics, composites and advanced materials industry. Through this support in the areas of business strategy as well as product, technology and market development, he aims to accelerate the adoption of innovative and sustainable materials and technologies, and to contribute to the long-term business success of his clients and their customers. He supports PROCOTEX with regard to its technical and marketing activities in the area of recycled carbon fibers, with a focus on their highly promising applications in plastics.
